On October 27, 2020 Hispanic Contractors held a live, outdoor event for 64 guests on an unimproved riverfront property in Virginia honoring the work of the Dept. of General Services (DGS) for their diversity practices and in particular the work of Donny Gonzalez,
Dep. Dir. of Facilities Maintenance at the agency. DGS controls a large portion of the capital improvement budget of DC government and manages extensive portions of the District's real estate. Their work is key and vital to many of our businesses.
The site of the affair was a 40" x 100" tent on a picturesque pasture located on the Potomac River just past Mt. Vernon. The property, owned by Carlos Perdomo, Chairman of MDCHCA, was spectacular and the Fall weather fresh and clear. The event was managed by The CalPro Group. Strict safety protocols were in place during the reception.
We'd like to thank the Mayor of the District of Columbia, Muriel Bowser for her inspiring message to the group and Washington Media Group for the excellent work on a video of what took place that evening, both copied here on our website.
It was a peaceful, pleasant moment in a turbulent time. We were all happy to meet once again after so long.
Our organization is committed to progress, excellence and prosperity of small minority, immigrant and Hispanic owned construction or construction related enterprises. Proud of the membership, of the small businesses who struggle every day to keep their businesses alive and grateful to the General Builders and large corporations in the industry who keep us going! For their support of this event we wish to recognize new member DC Water, PEPCO, [email protected] and the Building Trades Unions for providing sustenance and support.
It was the best of times...
