For the first time in its long and fabled history, the Carlos Rosario International Charter School (CRICS) is presenting a series of workshops, seminars and trainings related to construction. In collaboration with DC Metro Hispanic Contractors Association (MDCHCA), Turner Construction and the Latino Safety Professionals Association (LSP), DC's nationally acclaimed Adult Education Center with a large minority and Hispanic student population has agreed to host the following programs:

                        - On Tuesday evening, June 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, a two hour panel on "How to Succeed in Construction".

                        - This workshop will be followed in July by a ten hour OSHA training conducted on 4 evenings from July 24 thru 27, 6:30 to 9 pm. Space for this 4 part seminar is limited and costs $40. Successful attendance results in an OSHA certificate and increased opportunities for employment in the construction sector.

                                    - Turner Construction is partnering with CRICS to produce a bi-lingual pilot program of its storied Construction Management Certificate program. This program will inaugurate on September 12 and will consist of 4 sessions, every Tuesday evening until October 3rd.

                        - The Rosario School together with MDCHCA have also committed to producing a Construction Expo in the Fall of 2017.

The "How to Succeed in Construction" Workshop will be led by 4 distinguished entrepreneurs in the field. MDCHCA President, Edwin Villegas, owner of Winmar Construction based in the District, will relate his experiences in building one of the most successful local Hispanic owned construction firms. Margarita Dilone, owner of Crystal Insurance and incoming Chair of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, will discuss the financial challenges of insuring and maintaining a small business in construction and Bryan Short, a lawyer from the Montgomery & Fazzone law firm who represents numerous general contractors will address the legal challenges of keeping a small construction business afloat.
