DC Hispanic Contractors Association (MDCHCA) is currently organizing a virtual networking conference with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) which will include a presentation on;
"How to do Business with MWAA" (MWAA Procurement and Supplier Diversity) and a;
"Matchmaking/Panel discussion with MWAA Procurement"
This will be a focused discussion on construction and related opportunities at the airports and what is required to obtain work with them. MWAA is making a concerted effort to reach out to us, increase their diversity and local source hiring and we urge all of you to take advantage of this offer.
The date and time for our Virtual Conference is to be determined and right now appears to be sometime in late August.
Our contractor's association has committed to providing the Airports Authority with the names of all participants by July 15. So far we have commitments from 18 members. All current and up to date members of MDCHCA are welcome to participate by simply contacting our Managing Director; Jose Sueiro at [email protected] or by phone; 202-203-0120 and verifying your status.
You must be licensed by MWAA to bid directly or sub-contract on their projects. If you are not, please do so immediately. We can help with that.
Once admitted, everyone must submit a 1-page Capability Statement by August 1 so we may present all of them to the Airports Authority in a timely manner in preparation for the event.
The project is the Frederick Douglass Hall Renovation project on 6th Street.  It’s a Howard University project renovating an existing building that was damaged in a steam event.  The entire interior will be upgraded and renovated to become a classroom and office building for the campus.  It’s about 70,000 SF three stories at and above grade plus a basement.  It is a historic building with specialty woodwork, terrazzo, and plaster/drywall finishes.  We are looking for subcontractors for LVT, tiling, painting, terrazzo repairs, plaster, drywall and ceilings, toilet accessories and partitions, signage, window treatment, roofing, misc metals, glazing, doors frames and hardware, masonry and general trades.
We do not need any electrical, mechanical or plumbing or elevator contractors as they are delegated design/design assist.  There is no exterior work.
